Şopengazi Nebiha Deprem Dog Nursery History
Our story begins in the summer of 2004, when a municipality in Izmir stuffed its dogs in barrels in a nursing home and threw it into the Menderes forests overnight.
Seeing the gravity of the situation, while the Korean Veteran Şerafettin Kıvrak was carrying water and food to hundreds of hungry and thirsty dogs scattered in the forest for months, the ladies Nebiha Earthquake and Ayşe Ertaş, the founder of our nursing home and the Dohayder Association, who joined him, began to struggle to keep the discarded dogs alive.
Our nursing home was originally built by building simple kennels and sections for the shelter of the dogs, and additions and renovations have been made over the years.
Our nursing home has become the home and shelter of countless sick, elderly, needy caregivers, and mother dogs with puppies, who were thrown here from their homes or streets. Currently, it is trying to provide a livable standard to over 180 dogs in sections separated by fences and 100 dogs in the forest.
Our veterinarians and veterinary technicians are devoted to the sterilization, chipping, periodic vaccination, surgery and care of our dear friends living in our nursing home, which also attaches importance to rehabilitation, as well as the activities of combating leashmania.
It makes us and our paw friends very happy that families with children, students and various associations and professional organizations visit our shelter and distribute love and affection to our dogs.
Our nursing home, which is the paradise of rescued paws, is trying to survive with the help of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and our beautiful donors.
